Drifting’ is a self-portrait, capturing my favorite meditation: floating on water in complete surrender. In this state, I drift with each inhale and exhale of breath, immersed in the profound emptiness of the mind, where true happiness, healing, and tranquility are found. This piece is my first attempt at a realistic abstract portrait on canvas, using mixed media: acrylic paints, gold, and copper foil. The gold foil on the face symbolizes the emergence of nirvana-like peace, while my submerged body, depicted in copper foil, is fueled with purity and stillness of the cool waters, resonating with a quiet, transformative strength in the depths of surrender.
